As the name suggests, the game takes place in the world of Dante's Inferno. It is an old-school styled RPG with turn based combat and a focus on story and exploration. The player travels through the 9 layers of the underworld, each layer having a distinct look, feel and gameplay gimmick. This is a personal project being worked on in my free time between school projects.

Combat
The game's combat is classic turn-based battling. Players choose their party's actions, then use them on enemies in order to win.
Each character has been designed to specialized in a certain facet of battle, along with using Magic Points or Tactical Points:
Dante: Designed to be a tank, with skills that raise defense and to gain enemy attention.
Virgil: Designed to have all-around magic. Healing, and elemental, a glass cannon with low defense but high damage.
Plutus: Designed to have very high damage potential. Players will build up TP to unleash multiple attacks in a single turn.
Charon: Designed to use tactical magic. Buffs for the party and de-buffs for the enemy. She is introduced as the last party member, when the player should have a strong hold on the game's mechanics, so these buffs are essential.

Character Progression
As most RPGs go, characters gain EXP by defeating enemies. As they level up, new actions are obtained, making them stronger and giving the player more options for experimentation of strategies.
Players can find equipment in chests by exploring levels, or buy them from merchants.
Weapons work differently, other than Dante, party member weapons are upgraded by a blacksmith in Level 4. Once Plutus is obtained, hidden crystals can be interacted with around the map to obtain the special upgrade materials, encouraging exploration and re-visiting previous areas.
